EXPERIENCE / BACKGROUND

Tonia has been with Virgin Australia since 2011 starting as a first officer on the ATR and is currently a Captain. She was the first woman to be hired on the ATR and the only female Captain for some time. Tonia learnt to fly in NZ and transferred her CPL to Australia before gaining her ATPL here. Tonia has been based in Canberra, Brisbane and now back in Canberra again.

SITUATION

She is married to an Army officer (explains the moving) who has deployed overseas and is well versed in the challenges the military brings especially being the one left at home. She does not have children presently but can imagine a family in her future.

 

RELATED / INTERESTS

Tonia grew up on a dairy farm and still really loves anything to do with the outdoors, fitness and cooking fabulous food.
