Application / Selection Process
Following close of an EOI window, pilots will be selected to attend an interview. Successful applicants will be notified by email.
CONNECT TRAINING
Initial course
2-3 days extensive training course in Virgin Australia Sydney/Brisbane Training Centre/s. Presenters are subject matter experts/ healthcare professionals
Topics
Mental health Illness, stress, depression, anxiety, D&A, HIMs, Mindfulness, Mental Health and Workplace Issues, How to have a peer support conversation, Suicide Awareness, How and when to intervene, CASA, How not to burn out as a volunteer, Communication Skills, Ethics and Boundaries.
Refresher Training
Required to attend 2 ongoing development session per year.

Guidelines
Bound by strict guidelines on ethics, roles and responsibilities, values and respect, as well as confidentiality. For access to read extensive guidelines please contact a CONNECT Coordinator
Confidentiality
All CONNECT Volunteers sign a confidentiality agreement upon completion of the course and training. CONNECT places the highest level of importance on confidentiality. Shown to be the most significant factor in enabling a helpful supportive relationship to be developed between a CONNECT Volunteer and peer pilot. No formal records are kept in relation to the CONNECT assistance contact.
Renumeration and Logistics
CONNECT Volunteers provided Admin0 days to attend initial and ongoing development. All costs, travel, accommodation, food for training provided by Virgin Australia. There is no payment, overtime (credit), or time off in lieu.
